Wednesday 8 December 2010: Feast Day of Mary's Immaculate Conception - Training Center

Mary Our Mother”
By: Filjan Tolibas
Can we pause for a moment and think of an experience in which our mothers have shown how much they have sacrificed their lives out of their great love for us.
When we were still babies our mother took good care of us. She offered her life and time so that we would become healthy and be good children in the future. She woke up early in the morning just to prepare food. And when we needed something our mother was always there to address our needs. When we wanted attention she was there to cuddle us and make us happy. When we were hurt, mother was always there to comfort and to tell us not to worry for “Mama is here”. She is always there for us. A mother’s love for her child is unbounded. This love shows no limits; it goes beyond borders. Truly, this is a love that is truly willing to sacrifice oneself.
Our blessed Mother loves us so much to the point of sacrificing her own Happiness and freedom by saying “Yes” to the call of God, to become the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Angel Gabriel told Mary "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" Mary was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, Luke 1:26-38. From the very beginning she knew already that as mother of our Lord it takes great responsibiltyand sacrifeces. But despite of that she still say YES to the call. Can you even imagine how she must have felt at that time?

According to M. Scott Peck the author of the book entitled The Road Less Travelled he defined love as “the will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth”.
The Unbounded love of a mother goes beyond limits. Our heavenly mother shows this kind of love to us. She gave her one and only Son Jesus Christ so that we will be saved from our sins and be able see a whole new world full of love. Let me ask you this question: Am I worthy of the love that mother Mary gives to me? Do I love her in return or not?
If being love is our Goal, we will fail to achieve it. The only way to be assured of being love is to be a person worthy of love. (M. Scott Peck)
In order to make the journey of life more exciting and enjoyable, we need a loving and caring mother with whom we can share our values, dreams, fantasies, joys and jokes. In difficult times of anxiety, sorrow, distress or loss of near and dear ones, our heavenly mother will always stand firm beside us and console us in every possible manner.
Our devotion to Mary rests on the idea that Mary listens to those who share her faith and that she presents their needs to her son Jesus. The affectionate label, "Mama Mary," reflects how much we trust her. Just as a child turns to its mother for help, we as the sons of our heavenly Mother turn to her to find help in times of need. Such piety should not diminish the importance of the scriptural teaching that Jesus is the one mediator between God and humanity.
Keep the flames of love burning to live a great, great love life to our Blessed Mother...
The love of a mother bears all things. Our blessed Mother loves us very much because she is our mother, she will provide all things for us because she is our mother. And this is proven by our founder St. John Bosco during his earthly life and to his mission for the young manifest the presence of Mother Mary as his intercessor, provider and protectress in his whole life.
Have Devotion to Mary and you will see what miracles are.” Don Bosco used to tell this phrase to his boys every time they celebrated the feast of Mary. This practice has been cared out in different Salesian settings. According to Don Bosco, "The reasons we have for devotion to Our Lady are: Mary is the holiest of all creatures Mary is the Mother of God. Mary is our Mother".
This Wednesday December 8, 2010 we will celebrate the Great Feast Of Mary's Immaculate Conception. Don Bosco Training Center Pasil (DBTC) is preparing for this feast of our Lady as a sign of our devotion to her. We organized a special Rosary instead of regular morning prayers in the triduum. On the feast day it self we will have a program and contest as a “Tribute to Mary our Mother”. This is one way of preparing our self in the feast day and at the same time showing our love as a Bosconian to our Blessed mother. Happy Feast Day!!!!!!!
