Monday 21 March 2011: Jenyfer, a working student, graduates

Congratulations go to Jenyfer today as she graduates from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR) after completing her Nursing course.

Jenyfer first came to the youth center when she was just nine years old. She is the only child of her father and mother who separated when she was just a toddler. Her father now has a new family and lives nearby. Her mother died when she was still a child and Jenyfer now lives with her auntie. Being a DBYC youth member enabled Jenyfer to develop her talents such as her ability to dance and her sense of humor.

Four years ago she was offered the chance to became a working scholar - Don Bosco would pay for her university fees and in return she would work in the accounting office for fifteen hours a week. As Jenyfer herself has said she is extremely grateful to Don Bosco as without the scholarship she would have been unable to study as the tuition fees are so expensive. Jenyfer now has a bright future ahead of her. She is determined to give back to the center in anyway she can and be a Bosconian for life.
